This page explains what files you can upload, what we restrict, how Structura stores your assets, and how we protect downloads.
Supported file types
Creators can upload a range of common engineering, architecture, and construction formats. If you need a format that isn’t listed, you can still package deliverables as a ZIP (as long as the contents are supported and safe).

Restricted uploads
To protect users and reduce fraud/malware risk, we restrict certain file types and content. Uploads that violate these rules may be rejected or removed.
Executable / Installer files
Not allowed due to malware risk and to keep the marketplace safe.

We can’t scan or validate content and it breaks automated delivery and moderation.

ZIP is supported for predictable scanning and delivery. Other archive types are not currently supported.

How files are stored
Object storage (S3)
Asset files and previews are stored in secure object storage. We store file metadata (title, description, formats, size, creator) in our database, not the file contents.
Previews vs deliverables
Listing preview images are optimized for fast loading. Deliverable files (CAD/BIM/3D/etc.) are stored separately and only provided to subscribers with access.
Integrity checks
We can validate file size and type. Where available, we track checksums to detect corrupted uploads and ensure the file you download matches what was uploaded.
How we secure assets & downloads
Structura is designed so files are not publicly accessible. Access is controlled by authentication and subscription checks.
Private storage
Files live in private storage. We don’t expose raw bucket paths publicly.
Gated downloads
Downloads are served through a secure endpoint that checks the user’s subscription before granting access.
Time-limited links
When we do generate file URLs, they are signed and expire after a short time window.
Access logging
We can log download events (asset, user, timestamp) to help detect abuse and support creators.
Important: No system can prevent all misuse. If a user has legitimate access to download a file, they can potentially share it. We focus on preventing unauthorized access and limiting abuse.
Licensing & usage notes
Each asset includes a license and usage terms defined by the creator. Always review licensing before use in commercial work.
